Do we believe that the Father has our best interest at hand? Learning what God has said about HIS REST should bring us great comfort. The Father who created us knows what is best for us. God’s promise of entering His rest still stands, so what holds us back from embracing this blessing?
I want to be one of those who believe in order to enter that place of rest that has been made ready since the Father created the world.
We need to defend this gift of rest that the Father has given to us. When rest becomes part of our lifestyle we will begin to see the tangible results in our mind, will, and emotions. These steps will prepare us for the bigger matters that we face in our life.
From a position of peace, being led by the Spirit will allow us to move through life more graciously. There are many things day in and day out that can get us off our peace or rest. A regular check-up throughout the day or when a stressful situation comes along can help us realign.
The more successful we become in understanding our need for this rest and being led by the Spirit daily is a key to a more abundant life.
I challenge you this week to stop, take a breath, evaluate this rest factor in your own life. The Father truly loves you and wants you to experience this amazing rest that has been prepared for you.
“So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” – Hebrews 4:14-16
In Zechariah 4:6 we read, “Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of heaven’s armies.” Our job is to understand that it is by the Spirit alone that we are led and filled daily to make His presence know throughout the world.
“On the seventh day, God rested from all His work.”. But in the other passage, God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.” - Hebrews 4:1-5
Questions for Reflection:
▪ Who am I resting in?
▪ How do I define rest?
▪ Do I believe I am doing the work in my own might or power?
▪ Do you believe the Spirit is at work in your life?
▪ Do you understand how much God loves people to worship Him relationally?
